Pissed off....................?
hey everyone, so i was hoping you could help me with an issue im having, on April 17 the Day of Silence was observed, the day before my friends and i went to the principal to discuss it and we were told we couldn't put up posters and aren't allowed to write a small blurb about what it is for someone to read over the announcements in the morning. we werent allowed to do this because the principal didnt want a whole school silence day, and she also said that she has "young kids" in the building, im in middle school grades 6-8, and what i dont understand is why those "very young" kids are old enough to use the word gay and the f word (against gays) and completely understand what they mean, but theyre too young to actually know about gays. In 6th grade i knew about gays and later discovered i am one and always have been, and what i thought about what she told me, i saw so many things that were not right, i mean im in a public school and there are kids in my school who have divorced parents because one of the parents is gay. this is wrong and i wanted some tips on what to do, im going to talk to the guidance counselor about it and see about having a speaker come in to the school to talk about tolerance. (were always taught this except for it does not go past tolerance of race, religion, or of people with dissability) in our school weve talked about so many things like JFK asination and about 9/11, i find it unsettling that the school is more comfortable talking about these things than gays. please give me any advice you have
