Fish tank cycling with ammonia block?

Hi, i have a 55 gallon fish tank that is currently cycling. I have a wet dry sump (trickle filter) with bio currently on the tank. The filter has a sponge for mechanical filtration, bio for bio, and carbon and ammonia block for chemical. I bought it from my LFS, it is carbon mixed with ammonia block with they say keeps ammonia levels down. My question is can my tank cycle with the ammonia block? Do i have everything necessary for the tank to cycle?
