use a tampon! tampons aren't scary at all (if that's the reason why you're putting this up- to find another way of going around using a tampon) and if you're relaxed it'll be easy as cake to put one in. or, you can go swimming in the pool (if that's what you're talking about) and make sure you have a pad ready as soon as you get out because the water will keep the blood inside you, so you won't bleed out in the pool. no, you don't technically have to go and you could lie to your mother and say you canceled, but if there are ways of going, such as using a tampon, why p up the experience and fun?!
